Catastrophic Climate Change: We Caused It; We're Going to Have to Fix It.

Clean Up Plastic Pollution

Yes, plastic pollution is a driver for climate change. Dark plastic in the environment increases solar heat gain, which increases temperature at the planet surface. As plastics degrade, they release greenhouse gases, notably methane (56 times more potent than carbon dioxide) and ethlyene. [ Production of methane and ethylene from plastic in the environment, Sarah-Jeanne Royer, Sara Ferrón, Samuel T. Wilson, David M. Karl August 2018 ]
